You will be immersed in this world of Provencal style food and fine Rhone wines over your 6-night stay with three hands-on cooking classes and three winery visits while soaking up the atmosphere of lodging in a former Benedictine priory from the 12th century. The property is located in open countryside - surrounded on all sides by cherry, plum and apricot trees and vine - between the scenic Dentelles de Monmirail hills and Mt. Ventoux, which at over 6,200 feet, dominates the landscape and is an iconic landmark for followers of the Tour de France. Needless to say, the area is a mecca for cyclists! For history lovers, nearby is the charming small town of Vaison-la-Romaine, built for the retirement of Roman centurions with its extensive archaeological site and picturesque medieval old town, and the Roman arena at Orange is used today as a venue for world class opera. For wine fans, there are the famous vineyards of Gigondas, Vacqueyras, Beaumes de Venise…and a 30-minute drive takes you to the legendary estates of Châteauneuf du Pape. The beautiful Luberon villages of Gordes, Roussillon, Bonnieux made famous by Peter Mayle's books are also at your doorstep.
